My artistic practice is a combination of traditional hand sewing and contemporary 3D-technology.
I move to and from psychical and immaterial mediums in my process. I can start with clay in my base sculptures that I 3d-scan into immaterial digital material. I then print this immaterial information and sew together my sculptures by hand.
This journey between materials and mediums is part of the esoteric aspect of my process. My mediums move from physical to digital binary code back to physical material. Something becomes nothing, nothing becomes something else.
Inspired by folklore and fairytales the animals in my work represent something very humane. The rat speaks of gluttony, the hare about fear and horses represent familiarity and safety, combined with symbolic floras from history they construct a narrative.
Spirituality and symbolism are the subjects of my artistic practice, drawing inspiration from tarot cards and Vanitas-paintings I create my own symbolic vocabulary investigating the questions that occupy me at the time. Everything from life and death to solitude and solidarity.
